Την Πέμπτη, 19 Ιανουρίου2017, και ώρα 16:30, το 6ο Γυμνασίoυ Θεσσαλονίκης (στο πλαίσιο του Προγράμματος Σχολικών Δραστηριοτήτων – Αγωγής Σταδιοδρομίας: «ΜΠΟΡΟΥΜΕ ΝΑ …ΔΟΥΜΕ ΤΙΣ ΜΑΥΡΕΣ ΤΡΥΠΕΣ;») ήταν ένα από τα σχολεία που -ανά τον κόσμο – συνδεθήκε μέσω ιντερνέτ με το Παρατηρητήριο Νετρίνων ‘IceCube’ στο Νότιο Πόλο,
Γνωρίσαμε από ‘πρώτο χέρι’ πώς είναι να ζεί κανείς και να εργάζεται σε ένα από τα πιο ακραία περιβάλλοντα στη Γη και πώς οι επιστήμονες έχουν μετατρέψει τον πάγο στο μεγαλύτερο και πιο παράξενο τηλεσκόπιο στον κόσμο.Γνωρίσαμε επίσης, το ευρύ φάσμα των επαγγελμάτων που απαιτείται για να λειτουργήσει το ‘National Science Foundation Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station’ στον Νότιο Πόλο – και πώς το ‘IceCube’ διευρύνει τις γνώσεις μας για το σύμπαν ανιχνεύοντας νετρίνα.

We saw how is to live and work in one of the most extreme environments on Earth and how scientists have turned ice into the largest and most bizarre telescope ! We learned adout the wide range of professions required to operate the South Pole’s ‘National Science Foundation Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station’and how ‘IceCube’ constantly broadens our knowledge of the universe by detecting neutrinos.
